On 7th September Wasim Ilyas, will be boxing David Finucanein the highly anticipated matchup for the vacant UK Boxing Union (UKBU) British Light Heavy weight title at the Indigo at the O2 in London.

In 2019 Ilyas who lost 8 stone returned to the ring after 10 years to win the UKBU Super Middle Weight title against, 29 yr old Irishman Denny Bulman. Bulman who was favourite to win had a record of 8 wins and 2 defeats. In an upset defeat he was dominated by Ilyas in a one sided performance.

There has been controversy in the Boxing League about Ilyas’s entitlement to challenge for the highest accolade in the UK Boxing Union after 10 years of inactivity. In contrast Finucane who has knockout power has made his way through the ranks the hard way and has now earned his position as mandatory challenger.

The UKBU light heavyweight title was vacated by long standing undefeated champion Istvan Szucs. Istvan successfully defended his title 6 times and with 7 national amateur titles and a European bronze medal his will be big boots to fill.

The undercard features the debut of Amateur superstar and former Algerian national amateur champion and Algerian International 30 year old Mustapha Bendou. With a record of 30 fights and only 3 defeats Mustapha will be looking
